A high-growth software, data analytics & technical services business seek a UK qualified SRA practicing solicitor to join their established and expanding in-house legal & commercial contracts management division as In-house Legal Counsel.

Salary - c.£60000-£70000 DOE + benefits
Type - Permanent
Location – Hybrid: Crawley / Gatwick office & remote home working mix
c.2 days p/w in office or more at your preference (rail station within short walking distance & parking available)

This is an opportunity for a UK qual solicitor to take up position within a wider legal & commercial team for a truly innovative c.£40m t/o, highly profitable and continually expanding business group.

Joining a hugely successful technology & technical services group within which the Commercial & Legal team sit at the heart of the organisation, the In-House Legal Counsel / Legal Associate will engage operationally and work in close support/advisory position to directors, senior management, technical and sales departments across a variety of commercial and contractual legal issues across group businesses.

Core workload engagement & focus:
• B2B contractual arrangements - contract T&C's review, negotiation, drafting and amendment at tender/proposal, execution and renewal stages (sales and supplier sides)
• Commercial decision making
• M&A, Business IP, Data privacy, Employment, Litigation (additional support)
• Engagement with external counsel (where/when necessary)
• Wider business commercial project work, defining and implementing commercial improvement process from a legal perspective: risk, governance, regulatory policy ++.

This position will be 1 of 2 appointed qualified Legal Associates for the business with broad engagement across a variety of commercial and contractual B2B legal matters. Alongside this you will also have a role to play in the development of streamlined legal/contractual management processes and being a potential signatory/mentor support for other existing team members who are LPC qualified and may be sponsored to follow the SQE/QWE route.

Ideal for a qualified solicitor with existing in-house experience or a qualified solicitor in practice with B2B corporate / commercial B2B contacts focus, seeking an environment to fully engage corporate contract law activity in a commercial technology services environment.
Key qualification & experience required for In-house Commercial Counsel / Legal Associate application:

• UK qualified Solicitor with current SRA practising certificate
• Existing experience in an in-house B2B focused legal/contracts role (preferable)
• Open to experience levels: c.1-2 years min focused on contracts activity
• Experience in B2B commercial matters – particularly B2B contracts review, negotiation & drafting, IP, Data Privacy etc.
• Analytical and inquisitive in approach – wishing to become an expert within and representing the business product BU's / group companies (this is a fully embedded commercial in-house role, not just legal support)
• Able to demonstrate wider ‘commercial business’ awareness and the correct positioning of legal advice/operation/negotiation/drafting within to mitigate business risk, ensure legal compliance is balanced with commercial advantage on a mutually agreeable basis
• Commercial communication approach with the ability to converse, build rapport and relationships with a diverse range of commercial and technical (non-legal) internal and external stakeholder groups.
• An interest in technology and technical engineering services sectors would be an advantage
